Loco Machines took on an ambitious project commissioned by Vampire Studios for the fashion brand Pull&Bear, which was a highlight at Primavera Sound 2022, over two weekends. The centerpiece of this project was an extraordinary arcade machine, resembling the classic claw crane game but on a monumental scale - a towering 6 meters in height.
This giant arcade machine was ingeniously constructed to fit inside a vertically positioned shipping container. For its mechanism, we chose a classic Cartesian coordinate system, similar to CNC technology, equipped with a claw as the tool. Players interacted with the machine via a totem featuring a joystick and embedded buttons.
Additionally, Loco Machines was responsible for creating a robust metal structure to support the machine within the container. A critical and visually striking part of the project was painting 2,200 balls in three different colors and attaching 2,200 QR codes to them. These codes corresponded to various prizes that could be won by playing the game.
Completing this project within a tight timeframe of 5 weeks was one of the most challenging and demanding tasks we've undertaken. The result was a resounding success; over the 6 days of exhibition, more than 3,000 people played the game, testifying to the immense appeal and success of this giant arcade machine.
A heartfelt thank you to Felix Braun for his collaboration, contribution, and for maintaining exemplary composure like a champion throughout the entire process and installation.
