'Geometry was for the deconstructivists what ornament was for postmodernists' - Venturi
The DECONSTRUCTIVE HEADS collection, designed by Alaska Accesorios and presented at the Samsung Ego Innovation Project, emerged as a winner and was showcased at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Madrid. This innovative collection focuses on the design, prototyping, and development of head accessories, reimagined as portable objects. These unique pieces not only crown the head with a distinctive accessory but also establish a direct interaction with the wearer, utilizing Samsung devices as a pivotal medium for communication and interaction. The collection delves into the idea of portable structures through diverse typologies and morphologies, allowing for the construction and deconstruction of modules to create almost abstract accessories.
Inspired by the Deconstructivist Movement, the collection embodies organic shapes, fragmented and distorted geometries, and intricate designs. This is achieved through the incorporation of new construction technologies, including sophisticated machinery and electronics, alongside innovative IT design tools in software. The core concept of this collection breaks free from traditional geometry and conventional rules.
At Loco Machines, we made a significant contribution to the technological aspect of the DECONSTRUCTIVE HEADS collection. We developed three smart wearable accessories, integrating both software and hardware to bring new innovations in design and functionality. One of these is the 'Concentric' hat, which includes an electronic system with a mini microphone that analyzes surrounding audio in real time. The design of the hat dynamically adapts based on this analysis, using LED light strips to create an interactive and constantly evolving visual display. This combination of technology and design reflects our effort at Loco Machines to create accessories that are not only visually appealing but also practical and functional.
