Brillen en la Foscor, a collaborative creation by Loco Machines and IAAC – Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia students and faculty, was a highlight at the LLUM BCN festival in Barcelona's Gothic quarter. This interactive installation reinvented a patio into an immersive musical space. Visitors were drawn in from the narrow streets to interact with light strings, each pull composing real-time music melodies.

The installation's heart was its interactive light strings, each rigged with piezoelectric sensors and connected to a Raspberry Pi system. When activated, these strings played harmonious chords along with a background melody, creating a dynamic audio experience. The setup, accentuated by black lights, also featured digitally fabricated wooden 'Islands' housing speakers at the light strings' base.

This compact yet rich installation not only enlivened the patio but also fostered social interaction, as visitors collaborated in crafting a collective audio masterpiece. Brillen en Foscor seamlessly blended technology and tradition, transforming a static public space into an engaging, dynamic environment suitable for all ages.
